50 Year Warranty
Trend Manor has been handcrafting solid wood furniture in Southern California since 1946. Every piece is built by hand from solid hardwoods, using time-honored joinery, and is meant to be passed down, not replaced. We stand behind that craftsmanship with the following warranty, which explains exactly what is covered, for how long, and how to make a claim.
Coverage at a Glance
| Component | Coverage period | What is covered |
|---|---|---|
| Frame, structure, and joinery | 50 years | All solid wood frames, structural components, and joinery are warranted against structural failure due to defects in materials or workmanship for 50 years from the date of delivery. |
| Reclining and moving mechanisms | 50 years | Recliner mechanisms, glider and swivel mechanisms, drawer glides, table slides, and other moving hardware are warranted against breakage and mechanical failure under normal use for 50 years from the date of delivery. |
| Springs and seat suspension | 50 years | Steel springs and seat suspension systems in upholstered pieces are warranted against breakage under normal use for 50 years from the date of delivery. |
| Foam cushioning and padding | 3 years | Cushion foam cores are warranted against abnormal loss of resiliency for 3 years from the date of delivery. Some softening and flattening of foam and fiber is normal with use and is not a defect. |
| Wood finish | 5 years | The applied finish is warranted against peeling, blistering, and delamination under normal indoor use for 5 years from the date of delivery. Gradual changes from use and age, including sheen dulling, fine scratches, fading, and patina, are natural characteristics and not defects. Damage from moisture, heat, sunlight, or chemicals is not covered at any time. See finish exclusions below. |
| Leather and fabric upholstery | 1 year | Leather and fabric coverings are warranted against defects in materials and workmanship, including seam failure and stitching defects, for 1 year from the date of delivery. |
Who Is Covered
This warranty applies to products purchased directly from Trend Manor at trendmanor.com and used in a normal residential setting. Coverage begins on the date of delivery. Proof of purchase is required for all claims.
This warranty is transferable. If your Trend Manor piece is passed down or sold, coverage continues for the remainder of the warranty period, so long as the new owner has a copy of the original order invoice showing the order number, purchase date, and original buyer's name. The furniture is built to be handed down. So is the warranty.
Living With Solid Wood
Solid wood is a natural material that breathes. It expands and contracts with seasonal changes in temperature and humidity, and small movements at joints, panels, and tabletops are normal and do not affect the strength of the piece. Seasonal wood movement and minor checking are not warranty issues. To keep your furniture at its best, maintain indoor relative humidity of roughly 35 to 45 percent, keep pieces out of prolonged direct sunlight, and away from heat registers and fireplaces. Cracking or splitting caused by excessively dry conditions or low humidity in the home is not covered by this warranty.
Finish Coverage: What Qualifies and What Does Not
The 5-year finish warranty covers adhesion failure — peeling, blistering, or delamination — that occurs under normal indoor conditions. It exists to stand behind our seven-step hand-applied finish, not to cover damage from how or where a piece is kept. The finish warranty does not apply when the failure is caused by:
- Prolonged direct sunlight or placement in front of unshaded windows
- Storage or use in damp, humid, or unconditioned spaces, including garages, basements, storage units, patios, and outdoor or covered-outdoor areas
- Standing water, wet items, planters, vases, or spills left on the surface, or trapped moisture under objects
- Heat sources, including radiators, heat registers, fireplaces, hot dishes, and appliances placed on the surface
- Solvents, alcohol, acetone, ammonia, or cleaning products not appropriate for lacquered wood
- Body oils, lotions, hair products, or medications that react with the finish
- Rubber, vinyl, or plastic items left in contact with the surface
- Refinishing, touch-ups, or repairs by anyone not authorized by Trend Manor
If the finish lifts, bubbles, or peels in normal indoor use within 5 years and none of the above applies, it is covered. That is the line, and we hold to both sides of it.
What This Warranty Does Not Cover
This warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship under normal residential use. It does not cover:
- Normal wear and tear, including the gradual softening and flattening of foam and fibers, stretching of upholstery, and the natural patina that develops on leather and wood with use. These are characteristics of natural materials, not defects.
- Damage caused by accidents, misuse, abuse, or negligence, including burns, cuts, tears, scratches, stains, spills, ink, dye transfer from clothing, pet damage, or damage from sharp objects.
- Damage caused by chemicals, cleaning products not approved for the material, body oils, hair products, lotions, or medications that react with leather or finishes.
- Fading, discoloration, or damage caused by direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, humidity, or placement near heat sources.
- Natural characteristics of materials, including variations in wood grain and color, healed scars, brands, wrinkles, insect bites, and shade variations in leather. No two hides or boards are alike, and these variations are part of what makes each piece unique.
- Damage occurring during delivery or setup. Any delivery damage must be noted on the delivery receipt and reported to us within 48 hours of delivery.
- Products that have been modified, repaired, or reupholstered by anyone not authorized by us.
- Products used in commercial, rental, institutional, or other non-residential settings, unless a commercial warranty was agreed in writing at the time of sale.
- Floor samples, clearance items, or products sold "as is."
- Seasonal wood movement, minor checking, and cracking or warping caused by humidity extremes, as described above.
- Damage to finishes from hot dishes, rubber or plastic items left on surfaces, water rings, or trapped moisture.
- Defects noted during or immediately after prolonged storage in a storage facility.
How to Make a Warranty Claim
We keep this simple. To start a claim:
- Email us. Contact support@trendmanor.com with your name, order number, and a brief description of the issue.
- Include photos or video. Clear photos (and video for mechanical issues) of the affected area help us diagnose most issues without an inspection.
- Keep your proof of purchase. A copy of your original order confirmation or receipt is required for all claims.
Once a defect is confirmed, Trend Manor will, at its discretion, repair the affected component, replace the affected component, or replace the product. We follow a repair-first policy: most issues can be resolved with a replacement part or an in-shop repair, which is faster for you and better for the environment. Any item that cannot be repaired will be replaced.
Labor and shipping: For the first year from delivery, reasonable and customary labor and freight costs for approved warranty repairs are covered. After the first year, we will supply covered replacement parts at no charge, and the customer is responsible for shipping and any labor or installation costs.
Limitation of Liability
This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and you may also have other rights that vary from state to state. Repair or replacement as described above is your exclusive remedy under this warranty. To the extent permitted by law, Trend Manor shall not be liable for incidental or consequential damages, including loss of use, loss of time, or damage to property other than the furniture itself. Any implied warranties, including implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, are limited in duration to the duration of the applicable written warranty above. Some states do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts or the exclusion of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations may not apply to you.
Trend Manor reserves the right to inspect any product, or require photographs or video, before determining whether an issue is covered by this warranty. If a covered component cannot be repaired and an identical replacement is no longer available, Trend Manor will provide a replacement of equal or greater quality in a comparable style.
